Day 1 Burgos - Hornillos April 8 20.5 km

Arrived in Burgos at 4 pm and the weather was chockingly hot for a Scandinavian like me - 28C! Went directly to Casa del Cubo behind the cathedral and got my bunk, washed my clothes and got ready to explore the city with Ulrike from Germany. She was on her first camino and her rucksack was too heavy, she didn´t know what to expect! My first envounter with the Japanese- English family with the parents living in Japan and the children in the Uk in boarding schools.

The albergue Casa del Cuba in Burgos behind the catedral as cosy as last time I was here. Woke up at 6 and was wondering why noone is getting up. Heard later from Ulrike from Germany that the hospitaleros had to come and wake everybody up.
I packed my things early and met two Finnish women Marja and Tiina downstairs on the way out. Started walking at 07.30. The day became very hot and sunscreen was necessary. First stop at a bar in Tarjados with coffee and empanadas.

During the day I met Simone with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, two Japanese guys, Marie de St Genix a French woman walking her 4th leg of camino (started her walking from her home), Beo a South Korean man and Ulrike from Saarbrucken. We ended up in the same albergue for my first night in Hornillos. Hornillos is a boring little villlage, not worth staying more than for the night, or maybe I should have walked further. I washed my clothes and got them dry before going to bed. Hasta Luego!!!
